Sailing to Indy P2

We saw lots of prehistoric rock carvings when we

visited Newspaper Rock. Thousands of years

ago, this is how Indians tribes communicated

with other tribes. The carvings are called

“Petroglyphs” and told many stories. Cindi and

Jim are in one picture and Cindi and dad are in

the other. We visited the Petrified Forest and

learned that millions of years ago, when

dinosaurs were roaming the earth, wood

scattered across the mile-high desert of north-east Arizona became petrified…they turned into

stone.

The Continental Divide forms a ridge of the Rocky Mountains that separates rivers

flowing in an easterly direction from those flowing in a westerly direction. Rain or snow that

drains on the east side of the Continental Divide flows toward the Atlantic Ocean while

precipitation on the west side drains and flows toward the Pacific Ocean. (However, some rivers

empty into the desert and don't end up in the oceans.) The Continental Divide runs from

north-western Canada along the crest of the Rocky Mountains to New Mexico.

Welcome to my happenings, such as they are.
